Quinta da Cerca

Centennial vineyards

Quinta da Cerca

Quinta da Cerca is our oldest vineyard; it is a centenary vineyard.

Surrounded by a granite wall, the vineyard extends along the east-facing slope. Situated above 550 mts, has also olive trees and other trees.

These old vines contrast with the perfectly planted and organized vineyards of today. Here, the vines are scattered and almost untidy, the thick, gnarled trunks reflecting the passing years.

In these vineyards, we find a great diversity of indigenous grape varieties, predominantly red. Very traditional red varieties of the region such as Jaen, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Pinheiro, Baga, Touriga Nacional, Camarate and Mourisco, among others. In the white ones, you can find Fernão Pires, Bical, Rabo de Ovelha, Malvasia and Folha de Figueira, among others.

These vines have survived a century of weather, drought and some pests. With a very deep root system and very small productions, they produce unique wines that transmit a century of history.

Our Vinhas Centenárias wine is born in these vineyards, whenever the ideal conditions are met for a limited edition.
